About Us
Bytes to Mbps Converter is a fast, lightweight online tool designed to help developers, network engineers, and everyday users understand and convert data transfer rates. Whether you are calculating file download times or configuring network bandwidth, our tool provides instant, accurate conversions.
Why we built it
Data units can be confusing. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) often market speeds in Megabits per second (Mbps), while file sizes are usually shown in Megabytes (MB). Worse, there's the confusion between decimal (SI) and binary (IEC) definitions (MB vs MiB). We wanted a tool that clears up this confusion instantly.
What it calculates
- SI (Decimal): Standard 1000-based units (1 KB = 1000 Bytes).
- IEC (Binary): Computer-standard 1024-based units (1 KiB = 1024 Bytes).
- Cross-conversion: Instantly see the difference between "Marketing speed" and "Real speed".
What we care about
- Accuracy & clarity: We state our formulas clearly so you know exactly how the result was derived.
- Speed: A lightweight site that loads instantly on any device.
- Privacy: We don't store your calculations or data.
Roadmap
- More data unit converters (Bit/Byte/Word)
- Download time estimators
- Bandwidth allowance calculators
